French national phone numbers have 10 digits.
The first one is always 0.
The second one is 1 for Paris
2,3 or 4 for other regions in France
6 for all cellular phone in France
8 for free numbers in France and for some DSL

Cost of using the Phone
You can use the telephone to call anywhere in
the world.
It is free to call home phone anywhere in France
and in USA but it is not free to call cell phone (mobile phone).
To call a cell phone will cost you
$0.39 ( 39 cents) a minute + 40 cents to call
a mobile phone in France
$0.30 ( 30 cents) a minute + 40 cents to call
a mobile phone in US and foreign countries
It is free to call the c phone of your host.
The amount will be invoiced and charged from
your security deposit.
From your rental home:
Enter 011 for international, the country code
33 for France and enter the number without the first 0
Example: 011 33 8 73 81 79 15

From a cabin:
You will need to buy a phone card for cabins(
carte de telephone pour cabine) for 5 or 10 Euros.
Insert the card and dial as if you were at your
rental home.
To make an international call, you enter 00 for
international, then the code of the country (1 for USA)
Example: to call from Paris or from anywhere
in Europe to US ( use a calling card and enter when asked the phone number)

in this exemple, you are calling France For Rent
in San Francisco(415) from anywhere in Europe
Your phone is linked to an answering machine
service.
If your phone is busy or after 20 seconds without
answering, the answering machine will be triggered.
If you got messages, the dial tone is not continuous
otherwise the dial tone is normal.
To use the service, dial from the home telephone
set,
**1 to access your mailbox
You will hear instructions in French
If you do nothing, you will hear your new messages
one after one after having listen to a recorded voice between each.
At the end of each message:
Dial 1 to listen again to your message
Dial 2 to save your message
Dial 3 to delete your message
Dial * to return to main menu
You can also read your message from another phone:
call your rental home number and during the outgoing
message, press #
after you hear a recorded voice, enter the code “0000”
As a courtesy, we offer rentals of cellular phones
for 30 Euros each , fixed cost for the whole stay . Along with this cost,
you will need to buy a card . This card will give you a fixed number
of minutes you can use.
The minutes are counted only when you call, so
the calls you received, from anywhere including US are free to you. Please
inform your host (or emailto your agency) if you want to rent them.
